Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia - Jemal Gamakharia commented on the Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation made on the 8th of October of 2014 concerning the results of the Geneva Consultations on the security and stability in the South Caucasus.
Mr. Jemal Gamakharia remarked, that the above mentioned Statement of the Russian Foreign Political Department is a vivid example of the unabashed cynicism and sheer mockery on basic international legal norms and complete ignoring of the vital interests of almost half a million of the refugees and IDPs - innocent victims of the humanitarian catastrophe being organized by Russia.
In the first place, the vain efforts of the occupants to present the regions being occupied by themselves as ” Sovereign States” and full fledged participants of the Geneva Process come to the front. The Statement contains pretended threat ( from the side of NATO of course) to the “developing stability in the Region of the South Caucasus.”
“Stability” is not even discussed in the conditions of:
- “sustainably” and permanently continuing Russian occupation of the 20% of the Sovereign Georgia and expansion of the military presence in the regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.
- Forcible banishment from the occupied territories of more than 70% of the population and abandonment of their legal right of returning to their own homes;
- Appropriation of more and more parts of the possessions of the refugees and IDPs by the occupants.
- Pursuing of the policy of discrimination of the citizens by the national-racial feature in the regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali;
- Rude violation by the medieval century methods of the elementary rights of the Georgian population living in the occupation zones - Permanent creeping occupation through arbitrary fixation of the artificial division line and enclosing it with the barbed wire etc.
For achieving real and not imaginary stability immediate and full elimination of the above mentioned extremely negative results of the Russian occupation is necessary, as they create the real threat to the world peace and security and particularly to the safety of the South Caucasus and its native population including the Abkhazians and Ossetians.
Videlicet, the above mentioned negative results of the foreign occupation and aspiration towards their gradual cancellation conditioned need of the supposed deployment of the military infrastructure in the best interests of NATO on the territory of Georgia. The only way for establishing and strengthening of stability in the South Caucasus and among them considering the legal interests of Moscow is withdrawal of the Russian army from the occupied territories of Georgia and incurrence on non-renewal of aggression.
