Letters to the Ambassadors

Concerning the Children’s Tournament in Football being held in Sokhumi in breach of all the International Legal Norms, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia – Elguja Gvazava – sent to the Head of the Representation of the European Council in Georgia – Sir Ianosh Helman and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Slovak republic in Georgia - Sir Rudoplh Mikhalka the following letters:

“Your Excellency, We would like to express our highest respect towards You and provide You with a piece of information, that has incurred the displeasure of hundreds of thousands of IDP’s from Abkhazia and the overall society of Geogria.

According to the latest news being spread in Mass Media, on the 25-29th of May of the current year, an International Children’s football tournament was held on the occupied territory of Georgia in town of Sokhumi. In the tournament participated mainly the teams of the occupant country – the Russian Federation. Abkhazian separatists tried to use the participation of the junior ( under age of 14) football team “ Zilina” from the football school of Slovak Republic for their own personal benefit and give to the tournament an international status.

As, all the countries of the European Union support the territorial integrity of Georgia and non recognition of the policy of Occupied Abkhazia and the participation of the football club of the Republic of Slovakia in the sporting event having place in Sokhumi without considering interests of Georgia causes a rightful displeasure and is deeply regrettable.

Expressing our highest Respect towards You once more, we ask for Your kind and timely response, in order to avoid such misunderstanding in the future”.
