This week in the upper echelons of government have been important transformed. At the same time there was put forward a new program of socio-economic development, which is directly related to the resolution of everyday problems of refugees. For this and other pressing issues we talked with the chairman of the commission of conflict regulation in Abkhazia, relations with the Diaspora, education and culture of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia with Professor Jemal Gamakharia.
The Georgian parliament approved a new government headed by the Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili. What hope do you establish for him?
- Great! When people get acquainted with a cold mind to comprehend the four-year program provided by the Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili, I assure you, the program will gain universal support, which would be able to avoid planned by Kremlin's next big provocation for October in this year.
Do you mean the plan relating to the parliamentary elections?
- Of course! The upcoming parliamentary election is test of the level of democracy in Georgia and, consequently, the preconditions for our further integration into Euro-Atlantic space. About this is well known in Russia and tries to bribe one part of voters and intimidate the other to achieve the arrival at the head of the country's desirable for forces. In this words I mean the parallel planned military exercises in the North Caucasus with parliament elections in Georgia. - You can be sure that the day before this already hopeless plan ultimately has already failed.
What would you say, how real is provided program of government, why it was put forward today, but not in the past or the year before?
- In the past the level of socio-economic development of our country has not yet been allowed to advance this ambitious program. At the present time the situation is different. Despite the existed problems the economy is growing rapidly, exactly it is the solid foundation on which is based a new government program. Consequently, it is real and timely.
Some have claimed that the nomination of a new government program means the recognition of the collapse of economic policy in recent years. Do you agree with this opinion?
- On no account of but on the contrary, serious economic policy successes of recent years have made possible the nomination of such an impressive program. Certain forces, found themselves in stalemate situation nowadays, do not know what to say.
What useful changes are expected for us, for refugees?
- We, the refugees will enjoy all the benefits that are provided by the government program for all citizens of Georgia. With regard to our specific problems beginning from housing and ending with the overcoming of unemployment, as stated Mr. Prime Minister, will be corrected previously committed injustice. And as the guarantor for this will act the new minister of Internally displaced persons from occupied territories, accommodation and refugees of Georgia Ms. Daly Khomeriki, which would like to wish all those big, or at least the same success that she achieved while working as Minister of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
Returning the refugees to their homes is no less important than the resolution of social issues. What to say about this?
- Yes, indeed, return the refugees to their homes is much more important. In reply shortly, I will say that it is implementing a truly ambitious four-year government program and the continuation of the current foreign policy is the shortest and surest way to return to their homes.
