Ambassador of Czech Republic Mr. Ivan Estrab, who was recently in the occupied Abkhazia, made a strange statement about the regulation of conflict in Georgia.
He denoted that "Czech Republic has passed a difficult period of confrontation with the different nations. Czechoslovakia does not exist today. There are two independent countries that have learned to live in harmony. I hope that Georgia and Abkhazia will be able to find a common language to overcome historical differences, and the current contradistinction will be remembered as a nuisance of the past".
I believe that the News Agency of separatist Abkhazia "Apsnypress" who disseminated this information to interpret the words of Czech diplomat in a comfortable context and presented him as an apologist for the so-called “independent Abkhazia”. So I doubt that a politician and diplomat who is compatriot of such a legendary human rights as Vaclav Havel expressed a similar contempt for the ancient and modern history of Georgia and made so weak, politically banal and indignant statement sovereignty and territorial integrity.
But if Mr. I. Estrab represents the future political status of Abkhazia, the same as it was presented to the public information agency "Apsnipress", and most importantly, if in the coming days, the ambassador did not confirm the inadequacy of common statements on his personal opinion, it should automatically be unacceptable for the persecuted public of Abkhazia and also by every citizen of Georgia and he will be declared as a persona non grata for official structures of Georgia.
