20 years ago, on 15th-16th of March 1993 of the planned general staff of the Russian Federation, a large-scale military operation to engage the city of Sukhumi, which participated in regular units of the Russian army, the Cossacks, North Caucasian mercenaries, Armenian militiamen and Abkhaz separatists. Sukhumi stormed in from the sea, air and land. The Georgian side was able to successfully repel an offensive separatists and mercenaries.

In connection with this, 16th of March, at the initiative of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Government of Abkhazia and the Department of Veterans Ministry of Defense of Georgia will host an event dedicated to these events:

12.00 - will lay a wreath at the memorial monument to soldiers-heroes who died for the territorial integrity and independence;

14.00 - in the international cultural center "Muse" will host an event dedicated to the events of 15-16 March 1993. On the evening will show footage storm of Sukhumi;

19.00 - at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity will be a memorial service in memory of those who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Georgia.
